What Lectrify holds about you, why, and how to get rid of it.
What we collect
Four things, and nothing else:
- Your account details — name, email address, which plan you are on, and your password, which is stored only as a hash we cannot reverse.
- The lectures you upload or record, and the notes, key terms, summaries and flashcards produced from them.
- Your signed-in sessions — one row per browser, holding when it signed in, when it was last used, and the browser's own description of itself, so you can tell your devices apart.
- Basic technical logs needed to run the service, such as error reports and request timing.
Why we hold it
To turn your recordings into study material and show them back to you. To count your lectures against your plan's monthly limit. To bill you if you are on a paid plan. To fix things when they break.
We do not sell your material, we do not advertise against it, and we do not share it with other users.
Processing your recordings
Turning audio into text and text into notes involves sending the content to processing services we use for that purpose. Those services act on our instructions, are contractually bound to handle your material only for that task, and are not permitted to keep it or use it to train their own systems.
Your recordings are not used to train any model.
Other people in your recordings
A lecture recording usually contains someone else's voice — your lecturer, and often other students. That makes you responsible for having permission to record before you press record, and it is why we ask you not to upload material you have no right to upload.
If someone asks us to remove a recording they appear in, we will look into it and may remove the material.
How long we keep it
Your lectures stay until you delete them or close your account. Deleting a lecture removes the recording, the transcript, the notes and the flashcards.
Deleted material is cleared from backups within 30 days. We keep the minimum billing records we are legally required to keep.
Your rights
You can close your account yourself, at any time, from the account page. It deletes everything at once — lectures, transcripts, notes, key terms, flashcards and sessions — and it is immediate and irreversible. Nobody has to approve it.
You can also ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or object to how we use it. Export on Pro and Ultra gives you your notes in Markdown at any time without asking.
Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
Cookies
We set one cookie, to keep you signed in. There is no advertising or third-party tracking on Lectrify, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss.
Changes
If we change how we handle your data in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect.
